Greenland paddles have been making a comeback in recent years because of the decreased amount of stress placed on the upper-body. Wood paddles are made to flex when paddling, allowing for a smoother band width. There is, therefore, less probability of shoulder and arm injuries occurring over time.
If you are interested in owning a Greenland Paddle, I carve custom sized paddles out of pure Western Red Cedar. The paddles are then treated with Tung Oil to ensure longevity and extra strength.
